The Chocolate Factory
LES CHEVALIERS D’ARGOUGES company was founded in 1991 through the melding of two family firms of chocolatiers and a third company with wide ranging retail experience to combine their chocolate expertise and reputation for high quality products with a dynamic sales force.
Today the house of LES CHEVALIERS D’ARGOUGES has a strong presence on the regional, national and international retail markets, but despite its growth the company has maintained the skilled traditions of the chocolatier’s craft.
As well as its catalogue of some 20 different confections available all year round, LES CHEVALIERS D’ARGOUGES also produces seasonal specialities for Christmas, Easter and other festivals.
Know how
The basic rule is simple - we only make the very best with the very best.
That is why at LES CHEVALIERS D’ARGOUGES the master chocolatiers insist on the top quality cocoa beans (only Criollo, Forastero and Trinitario are used) from the best production sites in West Africa (mainly Ivory Coast, Ghana and Nigeria.) For the dark chocolate ‘tuiles’ range hazelnuts from Piedmont are selected; all the candied fruits are from French confectioners and the best Calvados and Pommeau produced in Normandy goes into the liqueur chocolates.
Our Christmas and Easter ranges are also made with the same care as the grandest chocolates.
From the creation of the chocolates to the packaging, the expert hand of the diligent and devoted craftsman is everywhere.
Innovation
Creating new taste sensations is the role of the research and development department. In the workshops a master chocolatier is dedicated to the invention of new recipes filled with chocolate, surprises - and emotion !
The candied orange slice coated in dark chocolateis an example of an innovative and quality product. Each orange segment is dipped in finest dark chocolate then wrapped individually in a gold pouch and carefully arranged inside the presentation box. The quality of the palette matches the delicate sensation on the palate !
Our repertoire of chocolate-coated candied fruits has recently been enriched with three new flavours: strawberries smothered with dark chocolate, apricot enveloped in milk chocolate and pineapple swathed in white chocolate. This mix mingles the fruit fondant tang with the sweetness of chocolate. These products were awarded the 2008 Normandy Concours of Food Innovation.
The chocolate-covered hazelnut ‘tuiles’are another examples of our original and delicate confection, available in six versions ranging from dark chocolate to white, including caramel and orange and these Tuiles des Chevaliers d’Argouges have become the flagship product of the firm. The Ouest France newspaper in December 2008 enthused: “The candied orange slice and the chocolate ‘tuiles’, two of the leading products of this family firm, are a big hit with consumers.”
