Fair Trade and Organic Chocolate
LES CHEVALIERS D’ARGOUGES has been making organic products for more than 10 years. Chocolates carry both the organic produce (AB) logo and the Fair Trade label.
Fair Trade
Our Fair Trade products carry the Max Havelaar label.
Max Havelaar France is an international solidarity concern working with the international Fair Trade movement. Its aim is through commerce to help farmers and workers in the southern hemisphere to become self-sufficient through their work. Our Max Havelaar label products undergo rigorous and regular checks by the FLO-Cert independent regulatory organisation to ensure compliance with Fair Trade standards.
Organic products
To be labelled ‘organic’ an item must at every stage from production to point of sale meet strict demands of the French ‘Agriculture Biologique’ (organic farming) body. The main points are :
- environmentally-friendly production
- guaranteed not genetically-modified
Our products with the AB label are certified by the Qualité France organisation which guarantees compliance with a rigorous list of demands. Award of the certification is a safety mark for the customer.
Do you know ?
The cocoa tree which bears the cocoa beans grows mainly in countries situated between latitudes 10° north and 10° south. Cultivated by small producers in the shadow of tropical forests, cocoa is mainly consumed in the northern hemisphere. The majority of the market is controlled by a few very large firms which fix the worldwide price and supply. The Fair Trade chain ensures the best price to small producers and allows them to earn a dignified living from their labour.
