David Meiss, Master Chocolatier from generation to generation, created the brand Chevaliers d’Argouges in 1991, with the Pierres. The brand initially settled its first workshops close to Gratot Castle, which was built by the Argouges, barons of Gratot since 1251. The company was launched with 4 people and now relies on 100 employees.
Once upon time, knights who defended the Norman lands against the numerous assaults. Argouges’ knights, from the name of their region, won their battles against the enemies, thanks to their bravery and willpower to remain free and independents. Minstrels narrated their combats with scores of details about their bravery all around the realm. Moved by their values of bravery, integrity, morality and loyalty, those noble knights were good men.
Their reputation crossed the Middle Ages, the Age of Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution and events of the 20th century. During the 21st century, their main values remain as strong as they were. They became the founding values of "Argouges’ knights, Master Chocolatiers" brotherhood’s code of honour. This fellowship first set up in Gratot in 1991 and then in Moyon in 2006.
The knights of bygone days became the knights of good taste. Nowadays, knights explore new flavours and concoct both traditional and exotic recipes, for the pleasure of all.
